Hi, I’m Carrie

I believe you have the power and potential for healing already within you. We all do. The trenches of hopelessness, anxiety, rage, confusion, shame, loneliness and depression are an overwhelming place. They can make us think, feel and behave in ways that don’t represent who we really are. Experiencing those things can make us feel isolated and alone. Yet we are wired for connection and belonging with other people. We aren’t built to move through the hardest parts of life on our own. That’s where I come in.

I love working with and supporting people through the therapeutic healing process. It is my passion to walk alongside those who are hurting and to help them remember how to feel joy, even in the midst of pain. My hope is that every client I work with will walk away from their time in therapy with improved access to peace, calm, confidence and clarity. My goal is to equip each client with tools that help them cope through struggle while also empowering them to feel more sustainably self-assured in their own ability to improve how they feel and function.

My passion for psychotherapy took root at the University of California at Santa Cruz back in 2004. My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Later, after moving back to Colorado, I began working with children full time as a preschool teacher. Through multiple years of working in schools, I discovered how very limited my capacity as a teacher was in regard to helping and supporting students and their families in the ways I really wanted to. I rerouted and went back to school. I graduated with my Masters Degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University while interning at A Children’s Counseling Center and training in Play Therapy. I eventually transitioned from the classroom to the school counseling department and am currently approaching full licensure as an LPC in the private practice setting. I am recognized and registered as a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate in the State of Colorado and serve as a Master’s Level Psychotherapist here at Red Rocks Counseling.

I adore working with kiddos ages 10 and up. I recognize the degree of trust that you parents put in me when I work with your children and do not take it lightly. I feel strongly about the involvement and integration of parents in the therapeutic process, and I believe in the capacity for healing, increased understanding and healthier functioning for the entire family system as well as the kids I work with.

I also specialize in work with teen and adult women, all the way from middle school through late-life ages. Sometimes the hardships of this tricky world make us forget who we are. Experiences of heartbreak, trauma, loss, abuse, unkindness and loneliness tempt us to put up protective walls or internalize super toxic beliefs about ourselves. In my work with women, my heart’s desire is to help you remember who you are; confident, bold, creative, compassionate, strong, calm, completely capable and worthy of a life that fills your heart all the way to the top with joy and gratitude.

My commitment to you or your child is that I’ll show up authentically and extend empathy and curiosity at every session. I don’t have the answers about how to fix or heal the struggle. Rather, I’m going to help deconstruct and peel back the layers that are blocking the brilliance that already exists inside of each person I work with. I can’t wait to meet you.
