Hi, I’m MaryAnne

People are doing the best they can at this time, with what they’ve got. I truly believe that. We are all at different places in our life journey, and each of us moves at different paces of progress and growth. This notion that we are all doing the best we know how, in any given moment, is full of grace and unconditional acceptance. Don’t wait until you are “ready”. Rather, come exactly as you are, right now. Because that’s the perfect place for your therapeutic journey to start.

We all need nourishment to grow. This comes in many forms – places, people, experiences. But ultimately, our most fulfilling and sustaining nourishment must come from within. All of us face challenges and traumas, and we each walk away with different wounds and messaging from those experiences. Sometimes, we need support uncovering and examining them. Otherwise, harmful scars can live inside of us and manifest in harmful or destructive ways. I would like to help you safely and compassionately move through those struggles. Together, we will close the wounds and rework those harmful messages. Our mission in our therapeutic work will be to create harmony in your inner and outer world. We will strive to return your sense of whole Self.

I’ve always had a love for connection – to people, nature, animals, and to Self. I believe meaningful connection is at the heart of effective therapeutic work. I promise to bring my genuine, authentic self to the psychotherapy room, and to make space so that you can do the same. As a clinician, I bring and explore humor and examine how our use of language influences our mind, body and spirit. We will consider how inconsistencies in our beliefs and behaviors impact our functioning, and work to discover the root causes of those of those things. I will provide empathy as well as bold accountability in your therapy sessions. We will collaborate and work together in our efforts to ensure that a your therapeutic experience is significant and meaningful to you.

I have a deep passion for learning about the human experience, both from an individual framework and within the family system. In 2013, I earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Colorado State University. During my undergraduate work, my passion grew through community service, mentoring teens, and working with survivors of intimate partner violence. In 2017, I graduated with a Masters degree in Counseling and School Counseling at the University of Colorado, Denver. Choosing a graduate program that aligned with my vision felt important and provided the opportunity for me to focus on cultural responsiveness and systems structures. My post-grad experience has included work with 6th – 12th grade school counseling, school-based therapy through community mental health, and private practice clinical work with children, adolescents, and adults.

Here, at Red Rocks Counseling, I specialize in work with teen (14+) and adult individuals. Regarding my work with teens – I strongly believe that in order for teenagers to thrive, their family system must thrive too. It is important for parents and guardians of teen clients to know that I will request their insight and involvement, at times. I approach this work from both an individual and family growth perspective. I work to create a place where your teen and your family can feel whole, healing, and celebrated.
